About

When I was a kid, I didn’t have a strong sense of community — that feeling of belonging, connection, and neighbors looking out for each other. When I came to Decatur, I found it.

Since moving here, I’ve been all in: listening, leading, showing up, and working alongside neighbors and city leaders to strengthen our community. At our core, Decatur’s inclusivity and community are what make our city so special. I’m running for City Commission to protect that spirit and ensure every resident — whether you’ve been here for decades or just arrived — feels connected, valued, and at home.

As our city grows, we face real challenges — rising housing costs, traffic, infrastructure needs, and safety concerns. But we also have opportunities to shape growth in a smart, responsible way. My priorities are clear: fostering a connected and inclusive community, supporting vibrant business districts and parks, ensuring safe streets and sidewalks, and strengthening our city’s infrastructure and sustainability.

I’m excited for what’s ahead and ready to do the work to help Decatur thrive in a way that lifts all of us up. My goal is simple: let’s keep building a city where every voice matters and every neighbor feels at home.

I’d love to meet you - please find all of our event details here or shoot me a text or call (470) 440-7991. I’d be so honored to earn your support and your vote on November 4th.

  • As a 40-year resident of our city, I’ve seen first-hand the power of committed neighbors stepping into leadership for the betterment of our city. It is from that perspective that I enthusiastically endorse Deanna Jue Sutandi for City Commissioner in District 2.

    -Jack Kittle

  • Deanna’s experience, inclusive leadership, and pragmatic approach will make her an outstanding partner at the city level as we work together to build a stronger, more sustainable, and more connected Decatur and DeKalb.

    -Super 6 Commissioner Ted Terry

  • Deanna is a force in our community. She listens actively, works tirelessly and gets the job done. She is extremely efficient and is a true problem solver.

    -Julie Gabbai

  • She's basically Superwoman.

    - John O'Donoghue

  • Deanna is a beacon - she draws people together to collaborate and take action but she also guides and enables others to create good work beyond the reach of her sweeping rays. Everything she touches she enriches and everyone she meets leaves knowing they are community.

    - Jessi Rokicki

  • I’m proud to endorse Deanna for City Commission! She works harder for our community than most people do at a full-time job. With her pep in her step, a smile on her face, and endless energy, I know she’ll make our city an even better place.

    -Kelly Daymude

  • Deanna is tenacious, driven, kind, and one of the most hard-working, community-minded people I’ve ever met. I know Deanna will be an incredible city commissioner and lead with efficiency, transparency, grace, and always for good of the whole. She is a ray of human sunshine!

    -Molly Riccardi

  • I’m behind Deanna because she is already very engaged with City of Decatur. She has established a firm reputation for hard work and dependability with a “CAN DO” SPIRIT!
